ATTENTION ALL SANDBRIDGE BEACH HOMEOWNERS
Your PROPERTY RIGHTS and PROPERTY VALUES are in jeopardy!
On Tuesday March 6, 2018 at 6 PM the Virginia Beach City Council will be discussing recommendations for a “Short Term Rental Ordinance”. They are scheduled to vote on these new ordinances two weeks later on March 20, 2018. The proposed ordinances will have a significant negative economic impact for the Sandbridge rental community AND the quality of life for ALL Sandbridge Beach residents and those who work in the vicinity.
All Sandbridge Beach residents and businesses should be concerned!
IT’s TIME TO TAKE ACTION!
WHEN City Council passes these ordinances, rental homes are REQUIRED to have a CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT (CUP).
With an 8-step process including TWO public notices & TWO public hearings, this lengthy process will end rentals in Sandbridge.
Even if you do not own a rental home, your property value and rights will be affected by these ordinances.
With almost 900 rental homes in Sandbridge and no rental activity, homes will go up for sale or be foreclosed. With hundreds of homes flooding the market, your property value will decline.
Opposing forces have used scare tactics on all other Virginia Beach communities. They have convinced all other neighborhoods that allowing AirBnB in their neighborhoods will cause havoc to their residential communities.
Be clear, this is NOT an AirBnB issue. These opposing forces have been targeting Sandbridge rental homes for over 2 years now and they are finally winning.
Join us on Tuesday March 6, 2018 at 6 PM in City Council Chambers as a show of support for our community. Please sign up to speak. Also, call City Council members and send email and letters before and after this meeting.
The City Council vote is scheduled for March 20, 2018. When they vote for CUP’s and the ordinances, your quality of life will change!
Local Business Owners
These ordinances will lead to more vacant Sandbridge Beach rental homes and less tourists in Sandbridge. Those tourists will move on to OBX and Myrtle Beach!
This will devastate the local economy including businesses in Sandbridge, Red Mill, and Strawbridge.
Sandbridge is different! Tell City Council to keep it that way by taking action NOW!
